Pretty white spangles on a flat silver background. Just another of the bags her daughters left lying around.
Joyce found herself wanting to know that Buffy and Dawn would be safe. Maybe even live forever, and the older woman cursed herself for being a fool.
Nothing lasted forever. Not life, not love.
Not mothers with stupid tumors eating up their brains.
Sometimes Joyce convinced herself that things would be OK.
Most nights she hoped that Buffy and Dawn would be OK without her.
Joyce held the bag to her nose, breathed in the pungent perfume and sweat.
Things left behind.
