| ANTI BLOG FIC HOME INFO LINK TO ME LOVE RANTS RAVES |
| 12/14/01
While I continue to mourn the lack of all things slashable and dare I say it *believable* and decent on Angel, I am reminded once again of why I started watching this 'verse in the first place: Have you seen this article about Will-To-Power and sex in the Jossverse? If not, go forth now, and be enlightened.. **

For instance, there were once certain types of fic I wouldn't read no matter who wrote them. Now though, there's just certain authors' fic I won't read no matter the pairing. I've no idea if that makes me more or less snobby. But it does give me more to choose from in terms of reading material. I have learned that while folks like Lar or Jess can make me weep over characters I don't even LIKE, when it comes to characters I DO adore, the have to be written exceptionally well or I find myself turning my nose up. Ah. Whatever. Run on sentences that make minimal sense even to me .. and I'm tired. (And basking in the glow of being able to write on AG again, and Jess...fuck you it's still not a blog. *eg*.) On the dark vs. light fic front...Well, let's just say as I alluded to above, a good author can write anything eventually. MP has some highly amusing X/S interaction, but she blew my fucking mind with her latest dark pairing of the two. 'Cause talent knows no limits. And thought I happen to prefer the darker side of the street (hence my latest fascination with Spuffy, and Joss is surely going to hell because of that shit) I certainly acknowledge the time and creative effort it requires to write a fic that is not only smart, but entertaining in a fun kind of way. Those kind of fics *do* make me happy. However, they don't tend to *stay* with me the way a bit of godawful angst or insightful character analysis will. Now, I'm not saying a fic can't have both. But man, that's rare. And when I find one of those again, I'll shout it from the rooftops so we all can share in the glory. I'm open to recs... |
