Random Angel/BtVS related thoughts: ((Here there be Spoilers))

~I'm a Jew, but I still feel the need to say an act of contrition to the PTB over at the Angel series. They did it. I have completely forgiven them for the crap that was more than half of this season. I have nearly forgotten the crap, in fact, in favor of the glory that is every suffering male on that show. God Bless You Greenwalt, you fucking malevolent bastard!

~I never hated Wesley. I just never particularly *liked* Wesley. He's pale, skinny and really fem, and those traits have never worked for me. But my god. Give the man a 5:00 shadow, some angst over the fate of the world and his best freinds, and a diaper bag and I'm suddenly his fuckin' ho. Someone pointed out how carefully the proximity to the nearest ER was mentioned on the show before Wes took off with the kid. So, no, I don't think he's dead. But man, is he gonna wish he was. More riffs on the Wes theme:

*Wes BEATING Lorne. If anyone doubted how far Wes would go in his quest to do what he believes is right, well, therein lies your answer. Parallel with Giles killing Ben, much? Yea, he 'shoulda woulda coulda' done it differently. But couldn't you just *feel* his desperation? Whatever the hell they pay A.D. ain't enough.

*Wes has no allies anymore. He's effectively cut off Gunn and by proxy Fred. Angel will come around in time, I'm sure. But atm, Wes is alone. It's interesting to watch him take a similar journey to Angel's of last season. It will be interesting to see who he comes out as on the other end. ((Note to Greenwalt: A goofyEpiphany!Wesley is NOT acceptable)

~The show didn't miss Cordelia, and neither did I.

~Angel learning *again* that love is loss. And you know, for a moment there, I was totally behind the whole thing. Ok, from the beginning, I always wanted the baby GONE GONE GONE. But we all know not even ME is gonna kill off an infant on prime time TV. So when Hotlz said to Connor in that mini-van, "I'm your daddy, this is your mommy, we're going to Utah 'cause it's nice in the fall," I was like, Ok. Party on! When Angel made King Solomon's choice, I was like yay! There's my angst martyr guy! Bye Bye kid!! Then the fucking Hellmouth opened and it all was bad. Suddenly, I didn't really want the kid gone- not if it meant some eternal suffering thing. Not even *I'm* cruel enough to get behind that....Fuckers. Made me care! Fuckers!

* But: remember that elevator ride Angel took with Dead!Holland? Remember where "The Home Office" *really* was? Yea. Maybe that "darkest imaginable yada yada" place Holtz leaped into was really.....

~Why the hell wasn't Giles at the fucking wedding?? Why was there no *excuse* given as to why he wasn't at the fucking wedding? That was poor writing, ya'll.  As well as lousy characterization and continuity.

~Rebecca Rand Kirshner gives good Anya. She's one of the few who does. I *liked* Anya last night. Not just felt sorry for her, not just enjoyed her, not just thought 'man she looks fucking hot in that dress' (cause wow. did she or what?) but genuninely *liked* her. Which is hard for me to do the way she is usually written. And which was essential to make last night's ep work. And it did. Poor Anya.

* Was anyone else waiting for her to apologize to that man/demon? She looked so lost when she said, "I punished you.." and I  thought for one moment...aha! Remorse! But no. Not a bit. And I still liked her, but in the end...it all went down the way it had to. Although she certainly acted with FAR more style and grace than Xander, which leads me to...

~Demons and X-demons behaving with dignity, ie. Spike. Wow. I liked that guy last night. Genuinely respectable fellow. Who the fuck was he? Can they *pick* a godamn characterization already and stick with it before I have a seizure trying to keep up? Ahem.

~ And finally, my personal speculation on the much touted SPOILER HIGHLIGHT TO VIEW 'Big Scooby Death': Yea, yea, I know they say it every year. But I'm laying odds on Xander biting it before they can finally tie the knot. Hideous feeling I have, backed up by the events in Restless, which I mentioned in earlier blogs. Plus, wouldn't it just *suck* now?? And Joss is all about the suckage. SPOILER END

~HEY! There's a new Buffy next week! Who knew????
